Model-based product definition (MBD) combines design & measurement technology. by ZEISS Group

The MDB technology allows the definition of dimensions and geometric tolerances as PMI directly on the 3D model. The MDB data not only replaces the drawing, it is also machine-readable, especially when defined according to the ISO GPS (Geometric Product Specification) system. In this way, ZEISS CALYPSO can create an inspection plan automatically from the MDB.
