Additive manufacturing

Powder Bed Fusion Additive Manufacturing optimised for medical and high-tech applications by GE and FMI by FMI Additive B.V.

One is EBM (Electron Beam Melting), which is ideal for producing medical implants because the surface finish can be optimised to encourage bone growth. FMI also uses Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) to produce a different type of medical implant, as well as the tooling required for these implants. FMI is now applying these technologies to high-tech parts, i.e. heavy, dynamically stressed parts and complex cooling structures.
