Use of additive manufacturing in machine manufacturing

The design of high-end machines is shifting from the focus on stability and durability to more modern machines with high dynamics, light weight designs and temperature stability.
If the advantages of additive manufacturing and the related design rules are considered in the stage of the machine design, components can be identified, for which additive manufacturing offers advantages like shorter production time, cost reduction, integration of functions and even improved accuracy. Some examples of additive manufactured components will be shown, which are already used in the serial production of machine tools.
